I and my grandson went to the Outback restaurant in Cordova,Tn for a delicious steak dinner but what we received was of substandard quality that I would not feed to my dog and for the money that I spent I was truly looking for the excellent quality of food that I expected to eat. I had the slow roasted prime rib, food was a lovely temperature but when I went to cut into it it was like sawing a piece of wood.

I mentioned this to my server and she couldnt be more nicer and she apologized. I sent it back to cook it a little longer. She told the manager and he came to my table and he told me that he would give me a new steak of the Outback cut, and he as well could not be anymore nicer than my server. Now when my new steak arrived that one was tougher than my first steak.

My grandson also had problems cutting into his steak, he had the New York strip, he could not even finish his steak because of the quality of meat. A table across from us was 5 lovely ladies who also ordered the New York strip. 3 of those ladies had to send their steak back due to the lack of quality that I know that Outback is known for, that is why I chose to go to Outback. In all of my years eating at your establishment this is the very first time that I have had any complaints.

I was truly embarrassed that I had subjected my grandson to such poor quality. I chose the prime rib because I are known for such tender juicy flavorable cuts of meat that just melts in your mouth!!!

I spent $70.00 for a meal that was substandard!

I would appreciate being compensated for the money I spent. Food vouchers would truly help as a gesture of appreciation towards a loyal and long time customer!

Why didn’t you handle this when you were there? If so bad, you are not going to eat it, so ask for the meal to be taken off the bill. Don’t sneak away without asking and request later.

My steak was so tough that I could not eat it, I did not enjoy my visit! I had to send it back and I was given another steak that was tougher than the first one! Quality was just not appreciated or appropriate! The server and the manager were very excellent and apologized for the quality of my food. I would appreciate if I were given food vouchers for the steaks my grandson and I were served. His steak was just as tough and he could not finish it! I would greatly appreciate if I were given food vouchers or have my money returned!!!

Terrible dining experience

Outback Steakhouse - Terrible dining experience
Original review Feb 21, 2024

We reserved a table, got there on time. Ordered appetizers and 2 of the 3 appetizers were over cooked both the blooming onion and shrimp.

I tried to order the mango alcohol beverage but was told they ran out of mango and that the drink would not taste good if it was made with a different fruit. So no drink for me. Our entrees were not cooked to the correct temperature. I had steak, my fiancé had steak and my son had salmon all under cooked.

I asked for the salmon toppings to come on the side but it came on the salmon, I also asked for the Salmon to be cooked well done and it did not come even close to that at all, it came under cooked. I took a couple bites of my steak but couldnt eat anymore, it was under cooked and it didnt taste good. We ordered a to go meal right at the start when we sat down. The order came out completely wrong.

For the to go I ordered the new steak & pasta meal but they brought chicken & pasta which I do not eat chicken. They decided to fix the to go meal by bringing me out sliced up steak in a separate small container to add to the to go bag that they gave me with the incorrect order in the first place. So they wanted me to keep the incorrect pasta meal and just add the steak onto it. I thought that was completely out of line but I didnt say anything because why would they do that in the first place.

And that was the manager who handed me sliced steak to add to an incorrect to go meal. The server was nice but made mistakes with putting in our order, we were still very gracious with our server & the manager as we were just happy to be out together as a family on Valentines Day. But our dining experience from start to finish was the worst, we basically paid almost $200 to drink our beverages at the table, we didnt eat. We did not ask for the manager but one came to our table anyway she was nice but really did not help much.

She gave us a $10 coupon that we couldnt use right away we would have had to come back in 2 weeks to be able to redeem the coupon. We politely thanked them and decided amongst each other that we would most likely never return to Outback again. I wish we had good delicious food, I wish I could have enjoyed the alcoholic beverage that I was denied, & I wish management would have rectified the situation. I do believe the manger took the salmon off the bill since they messed it up twice by adding toppings & it came to our table slimy and under cooked and therefore we didnt even eat any of it, not even the side dish because we were not pleased.

I love to eat, I love to dine however our 2024s Valentines Day dining experience was disappointing and we left hungry. I wanted to go to The Chop House, my fiancé chose Outback.

Outback Steakhouse - To complain
Original review Feb 19, 2024

Bad service and overcharged. My order was wrong.First I ordered drinks.

One regular shot fireball and a double shot. When the server brings it to the table both glasses are filled the same. When I questioned it the server tries to explain the portion sizes of outbacks shots. Well the portion size would be different if I got one shot as a double shot right.

She finally agrees and gets the manager to fix it. Great right! Well No it wasn't because when the food starts coming out things go south again. The salad pictured was suppose to have ranch dressing on it or under according to the food runner.

Look really close because you can plainly see there's NO dressing on this salad or under it. I also order a medium rare 6oz filet. When it finally comes out its not even rare, the center so ice-cold and bloody.

No server or manager would ever return so I could ask if it could be fixed. I even had to get up and go to the bar to get my drink refilled.

Servers name was Kelly H.

Unlawful Hostile Work Environment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Outback Steakhouse - Unlawful Hostile Work Environment
Outback Steakhouse - Unlawful Hostile Work Environment - Image 2

To whom it may concern,

I, Zachary William Hose, am writing this as a first sorts of documentation for the harassment and violations from the management and kitchen experienced as an employee at the Outback located in East Mesa, Arizona. After weeks of trying to tolerate this hostile work environment in hopes that it would subside, I have finally had enough given that the harassment and failure to uphold committed duties, recognize policy code, and treat others equally and fairly all are a continuous actions that prohibits a productive work environment and triggers my mental illness.

With every shift I work with Scott McNeil I am met with a rude and unapproachable manner as evidence by eyerolls, sarcasm and negative low-breathed commentary, sabotaging orders to upset tables or interfere with tips, intentional efforts not to help, an aggressive tone, and more.

I have informed a manager, Steve, one day when this hostile work environment really got to me and stated that I am on prescription anxiety medication so to please be weary on how you treat me compared to how you treat the other senior servers youve had time to build such rapport with. The managers tolerate talks of profanity, sexual conversations that make me and other staffers uncomfortable, and aggressiveness all the while there are guests out on the floor and employees needing to do their job and process transactions for the guests; it appalls me that a kitchen operates like that on the clock. I have been offended by the staff and the way this Outback operates.

Because I informed a manager of my mental condition and because they did nothing but snark at me about it and let this hostile behavior from them towards me continue, I believe I am a victim of discrimination associated with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). According to the ADA Section 12112.

Discrimination it states,

No covered entity shall discriminate against a qualified individual on the basis of disability in regard to job application procedures, the hiring, advancement, or discharge of employees, employee compensation, job training, and other terms, conditions, and privileges of employment.

I believe Scott McNeil and his team have discriminated against me in a hostile work environment by proof of intentionally not giving me adequate training in hopes to see me fail, even more so when I said I was sensitive due to my mental illness, and then taunted me about the mishaps that they seeded when an action would unfold. When I would come to them with genuine questions about the customers needs, they would laugh in my face and walk away.

I believe that this harassment is severe and offensive as evidence by the managers not taking matters involving checks and transactions worth hundreds of dollars for the business seriously. This hostile work environment is an ongoing process as after weeks and weeks of this poor behavior from the staff experienced by me all of this has now unfortunately come to pass. There have been multiple occasions in which Scott has said rude remarks to me for no reason which gets me very sad, throws me off my game for the day, and inhibits me from working in a positive manner.

There have been multiple times in which I got a manager involved for the safety and over all fluency for the table and business and they plainly did nothing. For example, on Friday, August 25th of 2023, during the evening shift right before closing I was servicing a table very well and they enjoyed my presence. Their meat got cooked wrong twice both times in which I had rung in correctly and walked back and verbally spoke with the back house about to ensure communication and proper enjoyment for the guests. After the kitchen not doing their part on cooking the tables meat properly twice, the table asked for a manager.

When the manager got involved, the table immediately did not like how he spoke to them, and you know what happened? They got up and got in the managers face and intimated me and him and then walked out on their tab and I was left with nothing. I had the table in a good spot with all this happening but how come when the manager got involved instead of going over there and being nice, they went over and made matters worse? Were the managers purposely trying to start something?

Interfere with my tables experience and not care on purpose? When it comes to hundreds of dollars and real people we should care.

Due to these hostile behaviors and violations, it has caused my mental health to worsen and has prohibited me from doing my job adequately. The mangers have failed to intervene and address this matter as proof by me telling them on multiple occasions of these issues and them doing nothing about it. The aggression and failure still continue if not worsens and the managers do not care.

And dont even get me started about fairly scheduling servers; the managers have their favorites probably because theyre young girls or an older man whos been there for 4+ years.

I am a hard worker and like to be proud of the company and people I work with, but the behavior Scott gave me yesterday, August 27th, has crossed the line and has pushed me to quit the job. I am very sad and now am in a difficult financial position because of this. Its upsetting because I showed up on time, I worked hard and proved I was a good server, I showed others kindness and was brave. I tried really hard to stay and make this position work but the managers and the way they treat their servers and operate that kitchen is so horrible.

I am surprised its been going on so long unchecked. I go in the back to check my tables food and theres people cussing at each other loudly, cooks watching movies instead of checking the temperature of the meat, one manager in the back by the dumpster smoking a cigarette, and the other manager always near the young take-out girls. Like is this how a kitchen operates? I come from working a great server job at a P.F Changs in California.

I loved severing I paid my bills with it for many years.

I loved saying I am in the restaurant business, but this place, Outback in East Mesa, has made me hate myself and what I do for a living. The managers here should be ashamed.

Horrible experience

Outback Steakhouse - Horrible experience

I took my daughter and guests to the outback in Rock Hill South Carolina tonight

My steak came thrown on the plate without my veggies that I ordered with a scrawny beat up potato and a random French fry. The coconut shrimp

Was burnt and cold.

I sent it back after waiting an hour. My daughters steaks were bloody despite ordering it medium well. My steak that I attempted to eat was chewy and cold. The manager kindly replaced my meal. And then another guests child threw up right in front of our table. It wasnt cleaned up instantly..

And my appetite was officially dead. I paid $120 for dinner that I didnt eat and had to stop at a fast food restaurant after to actually eat tonight

The waitress was good. The quality of food was HORRIBLE. There was no care thought or seasoning on my plate. There was a *** under the steak where it looked like it was literally thrown on a shingle. My vegetables were non existent and the baked potato looked like it had been through a war

I was not feeling well enough to fight at the time but I am writing this to complain formally.

Misleading advertising

Outback Steakhouse - Misleading advertising

2/13/24

I received an advertising from Outback stating that there was a special going on, an Aussie 3 course dinner starting at $16.99.

When I went to the website for Outback Bel Air Maryland to order it, all prices were $20 and up. As you see the screenshot I provided, it says $16.99 but all the prices are $20 and up.

80% of Outback locations are franchised-owned. It is up to the individual owner if they participate in coupons, deals, specials and promotions. Some are not financially able to do so.

I agree, and when I get specials from other places, such as one from Burger King yesterday, they say things like ‘at participating restaurants only’. This came from Outback corporate for nationwide distribution, and they included no qualifications about location participation.

How is your loss $6 unless you were stupid and ate then complained? It says “starting” at $16.99 and was probably nasty chicken.

I’m glad you don’t eat food like this, but real Americans do. And one other thing – I think you should probably check your standing reservation at the restaurant you’re going to tonight. A number of such high end places have been losing Michelin stars of late, and my thoughts and prayers go out to anyone who has to eat somewhere as low as a one star fine-dining establishment.

Guest

How can you speak as to what "real Americans" eat? Everyone is different and enjoy different things.

I don't eat steak because it's gross and I am allergic to shellfish. Does that mean I am not a "real American"? Do you know how silly you sound?

I do enjoy chicken (apparently the other poster does not - but again, we are all different with different tastes, likes and dislikes. You can't measure how real or American someone is based on what they eat.
